Rainwater Harvesting Regulations

UK water supplies are under stress due to increasing individual consumption, changes to rainfall patterns caused by climate change, and because of population growth.

This is reflected in various strands of Government policy and legislation such as Building Regulations, documents such as the Code for Sustainable Homes and BREEAM; these call for mains water consumption to be reduced wherever possible by economising methods, and also by the substitution of “non-wholesome” water (such as harvested rainwater) for uses such as toilet flushing, clothes washing, and the outside tap.
